New York is the home of some of the greatest design groups on Earth. The fast-paced city has an equally fast-changing design scene, setting trends and defying stereotypes. New York is one of the main interior design capitals, which allows creative minds to evolve. From hotels to restaurants, from private houses to home offices, design groups are responsible for amazing interior design projects.
We bring you what we consider to be some of the best design groups in New York City and today is Champalimaud Design’s turn!
The New York-based studio, established by Portuguese-born designer Alexandra Champalimaud, is the epitome of sophistication. Known for creating some of the world’s most distinctive spaces, the design group creates unique interiors by allying years of experience and an amazing storytelling. Champalimaud Design is an award-winning firm which specializes in singular hospitality design. However, they also work with residential and office projects.
The Plaza might be one of their most iconic interior design projects. Opened in 1907, The Plaza, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, overlooking Fifth Avenue and Central Park is a National Historic Landmark. True to its legacy, the design group created luxurious spaces by blending timeless furnishings with contemporary flair. With a strong french-inspired design, the group made every space unique and sophisticated, giving one the feeling of being in a fairytale instead of a hotel.
Another amazing interior design project in hospitality by the design group was the renovation of The Waldorf Astoria. Champalimaud honored the property’s elegant original craftsmanship by echoing the original Art Deco style and elevating it. The space glows as light illuminates its mosaics floors and signature plaster surfaces. Emotion is expressed through texture and colors, giving one a truly incredible aesthetic experience.
Champalimaud Design are experts in hospitality, no doubt! Tocqueville’s new home was conceived by the design group. Smoked mirrors and dramatic furnishings make the restaurant a both intimate and almost cinematographic experience. Undoubtedly, a design inspiration!
The New York Palace is another of their greatest interior design projects. The keystone property is right in the center of midtown Manhattan and no stranger to locals and foreigners. The design group did another amazing work allying the hotel’s history with the Art Deco influences of the Rockefeller Center neighborhood. Stepping foot in the New York Palace’s repositioned reception area, guests leave the frenzy of mid-town Manhattan behind, and step into a place of luxury and refined calmness.
The Carlyle is a unique place with which the design group has had a long and fruitful relationship. The elegance and high standards of the hotel and residence were always in mind when recreating and renovating their spaces, as they were designed to accentuate its Art Deco architecture. The furnishings and custom-designed furniture add to the space’s luxurious ambiance. A true design inspiration!
Champalimaud Design is more than just a design group, they are unique-experience providers and unparalleled storytellers.
