The mania, market, and money for the Action Comics Issue # 1 is advancing with breakneck speed, akin to the pace of the superhero in the comic. You can’t take any chances with something as popular as the Superman #1 comic slipping out of your hands. That explains why the first flight has already soared past $1.5 million weeks before the auction. The original owner’s copy of Action Comics No. 1 lands at Heritage Auctions in January’s Comics & Comic Art event. The “Rocket Copy” of Superman’s 1938 first flight is one of only 77 copies of Action Comics No. 1 in existence in any condition and just two graded CGC FN 6.0.
A few days ago, another superman comic that introduced the Man of Steel boasted a grade of 9.0 from the Certified Guaranty Company, fetched $1.75 million at an eBay auction. Collectors have clarified that getting your hands on this collectible won’t be easy and certainly not without a fight. After launching only hours before Christmas Eve, the bidding on the comic book rocketed past the $1.5 million mark. Art Daily shared the statement of Heritage Auctions Senior Vice President Ed Jaster, “Finding any copy of Action Comics No. 1 is a great day at the office. Finding this treasure was the highlight of an already amazing year – and, already, the coming one, too. From the newsstand to our current auction, this treasure has never left the family of its original purchaser. Which is just one thing that makes this a truly unique find.”
